Do people know how to negotiate? You do not tell someone you are going to accept but want to see if they can give you more money. You do not show your cards like that. You can say "I am very interested in the position but wanted to see if there is anything that can be done". But you don't put out there "I will be accepting the position but you think you can give me some more money?" Why would they- You already accepted!
